About

The institution caters to the academic needs of a heterogeneous rural mass pertaining to religious minorities, other backward classes, scheduled castes and tribes. Student profiling refers to the process of collecting and analysing information about students in order to gain insights into their characteristics, abilities, preferences, cultural perspective, learning styles and needs.This information is typically used to tailor educational experiences and support to individual students, with the goal of enhancing their learning outcomes and overall educational experience.

The student profile mapping practice of the institution is conducted by the IQAC of Basirhat College after the admission of first semester students since 2019-20 session. This process of student profile mapping practice is an amalgamation of both qualitative and quantitative indicators. The process involves representation of the demographic data of students demonstrating their social and economic categorization and computation of each student’s attainment in few selected indicators like digital intelligence, logical reasoning, emotional intelligence etc.

This student profile mapping report along with course outcome mapping of the students in a course is fundamental to the identification of advance and weak learners by the departments and arrangement of remedial classes or tutorials. The students are channelized in different training programmes, workshops, co-curricular activities based on the mapping report. The report also enables the departments to intervene and improve results of the students and prohibit drop-out through interactive counseling sessions with students and parent teacher meetings as per requirement.
