About the Department

The Department of Physical Education of Basirhat College was introduced in 2017-2018 with affiliation to West Bengal State University. Physical Education subject provides opportunity to develop competence and confidence of students to take part in a wide range of physical activities that contributes to their healthy and peaceful life style and also leads to a socially and economically productive life. The goal of Physical Education is to develop physically literate individuals who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.

Recently the department has increased its strength, along with the laboratory and various moder equipment. The joining of new faculty members and their combined efforts are driving the department to reach the goal.On the whole the department has shown a considerable improvement in recent times.

Prof. Gopal Guria, State Aided College Teacher, M.P.Ed, P.G.D.Y.E.

Prof.Gopal Guria joined the Department of Physical Education on 24th July 2018. He achieved his B.A in 2012 from Vidyasaagar University, West Bengal and he achieved his both B.P.Ed. (2014) and M.P.Ed. (2016) degrees from P.G.G.I.P.E (WBSU) Banipur, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. He completed Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Education (2017) from R.K.M.S.M, Belur Math (University of Calcutta), West Bengal. He Qualified 22nd WBSET.Read More..
