Department of Economics
About the Department
The Department of Economics, Basirhat College was established in the year 1947 with a vision to sustain the educative experience of a sizeable number of deserving students from around its periphery, which in general, seemed to be populated by socially, educationally and economically backward mass of people. The introduction of the Honours course of studies in the year 1967 was a welcome step towards further future development of the department.
The teachers of the department try to contribute their utmost towards fulfillment of the requirements in the classroom teaching as well as providing academic supports outside the classroom and in the library. Faculty members also engage themselves in academic activities like departmental seminars, conducting MRP, paper publication and other such activities.
